With record lost jobs, failed healthcare reform, escalating national debt, and unrestrained government spending – it’s obvious Washington is out of control. Central Florida families are forced to deal with the consequences. That’s why Bruce O’Donoghue is running for Congress.
We need a voice in Washington who has experience making tough decisions to balance a budget, a humble leader who has made a payroll. But that’s not enough. With so many Washington politicians breaking our trust, we need a Congressman from Central Florida who is one of us. Bruce O’Donoghue is that man.
A hardworking entrepreneur, Bruce began working as janitor for his parents’ traffic engineering business, which he now heads. Like many small business owners, Bruce’s parents, began modestly – founding Control Specialists Company in the Florida room of their Orlando home.
Bruce has been a longtime advocate for local small businesses as the Chairman of the Orlando chapter of National Federation of Independent Business (NFIB). He formerly served on the Governor’s Conference on Small Business Affairs, the Economic Development Commission of Mid-Florida, and the Greater Orlando Leadership Foundation. A member of Associated General Contractors, Institute of Transportation Engineers, and Florida Transportation Builders Association, Bruce served on the industry’s national joint committee working with American Association of State Highway and Transportation Officials for over 15 years.
A dedicated family man, Bruce is a homegrown community leader who enjoys serving others, particularly by encouraging the next generation. He coached youth baseball – serving as President of College Park Little League – and helps provide faith-based outreach for abused children and runaways at House of Hope. In recent years, Bruce mentored young men as National President of Alpha Tau Omega, a two-term stint that included restoring a focus on moral excellence, seeking truth, and self-sacrifice.
On the Board of Florida Family Policy Council, Bruce actively defends the traditional values he learned growing up in Orlando. He also served on boards of the YMCA, Frontline Outreach, Vision Orlando, the Fellowship Christian Athletes, and Orlando’s City of Light coalition.
Bruce O’Donoghue’s demonstrated community leadership inspired Gov. Jeb Bush, Gov. Charlie Crist, and Lt. Gov. Toni Jennings to appoint him to statewide public service. On the Florida Education Foundation, Bruce promotes excellence in schools through private sector resources. He also serves on the 9th Circuit Judicial Nominating Commission, after previously evaluating and recommending judicial reforms on the Florida Supreme Court Workload Study Commission.
An alumnus of the University of Florida, Bruce was inducted to its Hall of Fame and Florida Blue Key. He and his wife Leigh have two daughters, Alison and Gracie.
